We often hear about sustainability but we rarely understand what this actually means in practice. It can all be quite overwhelming and leave us feeling that we’re never quite doing enough.

At GIA, we want to give you the chance to help and to see that it’s not helpless. That with grit, determination, tenacity and hard work, things can improve. You will experience the ways in which communities around the world are combatting flooding, wildfires, pollution and other threats to their way of life. Whether it’s a youth initiative against coastal erosion in Vietnam; marine conservation in Croatia, Portugal and Greece; an innovative way of recycling in Thailand; sustainable fashion in Greece; or new farming methods in Italy, on a GIA trip you will be uplifted by all the amazing things people are doing. The projects you work on will perhaps inspire you to think about ways in which you can do your bit once back home.
