Nicaragua is a gem of a country in Central America, neighboring the more commonly known Costa Rica. It’s a land of volcanoes, surf towns, abundant marine life and interesting history. It’s the perfect place to have an adventure, improve your Spanish and get immersed in a new culture.
Nicaragua
On your GIA trip, you’ll be making a positive impact on the communities that you visit in Nicaragua. Whether that be helping at a school in a rural area, constructing new playgrounds for children or assisting with beach clean ups down the coast. This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know the locals on a more personal level and expand your skillset in a new way.
After the volunteering section of your trip, you’ll get the chance to explore this fantastic country. You’ll visit Ometepe Island - formed from two volcanoes lying in a lake - as well as try your hand at surfing. You’ll have a memorable walking tour of the city of León, sample the local food, watch some of the most spectacular sunsets in Latin America and go volcano boarding at Cerro Negro.
